Iconic fashion retailer Mulberry bags impressive 79pc sales rise

Think you know your Alexa from your Lily? Well, plenty of handbag-loving women seem to, as the iconic fashion retailer Mulberry recorded an underlying sales boost of 79 per cent in the last 10 weeks compared with a year ago.

Sales in the far east were particularly strong as the UK brand continued to woo international fashionistas. A new flagship store on London’s upmarket Bond , Street has been a key destination for overseas shoppers.
Celebrities have been particularly keen on Mulberry’s handbags, including model Lily Cole and actress Gemma Arterton.

TV presenter Alexa Chung was so taken with the brand she had the £695 Alexa bag named after her.

‘Alexa’ was so successful that Mulberry has also introduced the ‘Lily’ and ‘Margaret’ bags – the latter named after Princess Margaret.
