Handbag drive helps outfit women for interviews, careers

It’s time to take a look through the closet and donate new, vintage, and gently used handbags to the Arizona Women’s Education & Employment’s annual Handbag Drive. The yearly drive collects handbags to restock AWEE’s free clothing closet that helps outfit women with appropriate attire for interviews and their first week in their new careers. Several handbags will be transformed into creative centerpieces and silent-auction items for AWEE’s annual fund-raising and awards luncheon, Baubles, Bags & Bling, in September. Handbags can be dropped off throughout April at four locations: • Prescott: Fancy That!, 124 Granite St.; Lucky You!, 207 W. Willis • Prescott Valley: SMARTgirls Resale Fashion, 6616 E. 2nd St. • Dewey-Humboldt: Heidi Fowler State Farm Insurance, 150 S. Hwy 89, Dewey • Chino Valley: Penny Hubble State Farm Insurance, Mulberry 360 N. Highway 89 For 30 years, AWEE has created successful beginnings and renewed hope for more than 115, 000 women, men and young adults as they move into the workforce, offering a diverse range of training and support services throughout Maricopa and Yavapai counties.
